Hortus Botanicus Haren celebrates 400th anniversary with festival

Hortus Botanicus Haren will celebrate its 400th anniversary in late September with the Hortusfestival. The event commemorates the legacy of Henricus Munting, who established his private garden in the center of Groningen four centuries ago.

The festival program includes a historical walk on September 25, tracing the path from the original garden site on Rozenstraat in Groningen to the current location in Haren. On September 26 and 27, the Hortus will host the ‘Smaak naar Meer Markt’, featuring local producers, growers, and artisans sharing knowledge on nature and sustainability. Various activities for all ages will be held throughout the garden to highlight its history and future.
