Hosei University and Tohoku Gakuin University sign student exchange agreement
Hosei University and Tohoku Gakuin University have signed an agreement to facilitate student exchange programs, building upon a broader cooperation agreement established in March. The initiative aims to enhance educational quality and provide diverse learning opportunities by allowing students to experience different regional environments.
Starting in the 2027 academic year, the program will involve undergraduate students from 12 faculties at Hosei University and 9 faculties at Tohoku Gakuin University. The exchange will involve a small number of students annually, with an emphasis on maintaining equal numbers between the institutions. Participating students will be dispatched for a period of one year, during which tuition fees at the host university will be waived, and earned credits will be recognized by the home institution.
Beyond standard coursework, the program will offer practical experiences such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), internships with companies in the Tohoku region, volunteering, and entrepreneurship. Tohoku Gakuin University President Haruki Onishi expressed hope that students would use these experiences to revitalize their local communities, while Hosei University President Diana Khor noted the value of students gaining new perspectives through the historical and cultural context of Tohoku Gakuin.
