Hoseo University commemorates 11th anniversary of founder Dr. Kang Seok-gyu

Hoseo University held a memorial service on August 31 at its Asan Campus to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Kang Seok-gyu, the founder of the Hoseo Academic Foundation and honorary president.

Dr. Kang, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 103, was a prominent educator who founded Cheonwon Industrial College, the predecessor of Hoseo University, in 1978. During his tenure as president, he established the nation's first student startup incubation center, laying the groundwork for the university's focus on industry-academic cooperation and venture entrepreneurship.

The memorial service was attended by family members, faculty, staff, and students. The event honored his lifelong dedication to education and his philosophy of continuous learning, exemplified by his writings regarding the importance of pursuing new challenges regardless of age.
