Hoshine Silicon Industry removed from U.S. forced labor enforcement list

Hoshine Silicon Industry (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd. has been officially removed from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enforcement list regarding alleged forced labor in Xinjiang. This marks the first instance of a Chinese company being removed from the list maintained under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA).

The removal follows a legal challenge by the company. According to legal counsel, the company submitted thousands of pages of audit results and supply chain documentation to disprove the allegations. The U.S. Customs initially rejected removal requests twice, but ultimately agreed to a settlement and rescinded the enforcement measures after the company filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade.

In a broader context of escalating trade tensions, China's Ministry of Commerce has responded to U.S. sanctions by adding six U.S. entities to its own countermeasures list. This follows the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's decision to add 43 more Chinese companies to its import ban list, bringing the total number of sanctioned companies to 187.
