Hospice and palliative care awareness events held in Germany
Various regional events in Germany are focusing on hospice and palliative care to increase public awareness regarding death, grief, and quality of life.
In Munich, the 2nd Munich Hospice and Palliative Week will take place from October 10 to 17. Under the patronage of Mayor Dominik Krause, the event aims to frame the end of life as an opportunity to appreciate the present moment. The AKM Foundation will participate with several sessions, including workshops led by Prof. Dr. Lydia Maidl focusing on the spiritual and personal challenges faced by families dealing with serious illnesses in children or parents.
Additionally, the Main-Taunus-Kreis is hosting its 6th Hospice and Palliative Day on September 26. Organized by the HORIZONTE Hospice Association, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, the event seeks to reduce social taboos surrounding death. The program includes networking opportunities with approximately 15 local organizations and presentations on topics such as advance directives, grief support, and the role of volunteers in hospice work.
