Hospice nurse discusses research on common times of death

Hospice nurse and author Julie McFadden has shared insights regarding the timing of death based on research and industry observations. According to McFadden, both research and anecdotal evidence suggest that a significant number of people pass away between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., a period some professionals refer to as the ‘letting go hour.’

While some studies suggest different peak windows, such as 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. or 11 a.m., there appears to be a consistent pattern of deaths occurring during the late night or early morning hours.
