Hospice organizations host community walks for palliative care awareness

Various community organizations are hosting memorial and fundraising walks to support hospice and palliative care services.

In Aruba, Hospice Atardi will hold its second annual memorial walk, titled ‘E Ultimo Miya, Hunto’, on October 10, 2026. The five-kilometre event is organized in conjunction with World Hospice and Palliative Care Day. Designed as a public expression of remembrance and compassion rather than a competition, participants can dedicate their steps to loved ones or those receiving end-of-life care. The initiative aims to foster open discussion regarding death, dignity, and professional palliative care within the community.

In the Waterloo Region, the 14th annual Hike for Hospice is being organized to raise donations for Hospice Waterloo Region. Held at the Gies Family Centre, the event offers participants 1km or 3km flat trails and includes activities such as a silent auction, family-friendly programming, and a barbecue lunch.
