Hospital Anchieta fined for misidentifying police officer in report

A court in the Distrito Federal has upheld a ruling requiring Hospital Anchieta Ltda. to pay R$ 5,000 in moral damages to a military police officer. The hospital had mistakenly identified the officer in a report to the Military Police Corregedoria, claiming he had entered a healthcare area armed in November 2025.

The investigation was closed after it was discovered the officer was outside the Distrito Federal at the time and that the individual in the images was someone else. The court ruled that while the right to petition allows for reporting irregularities, it requires care in identifying the accused. The judges determined that the categorical misidentification without verifying registry data against the images constituted a failure in the duty of care, causing professional honor damage and requiring the officer to undergo unnecessary administrative procedures.
