Hospital Authority hosts art exhibition for cancer patient
The Hospital Authority organized a personal art exhibition within a hospital for Wong Wai-ming, a cancer patient receiving treatment at the Pak Pi Lee Palliative Care Centre. The initiative was inspired by medical staff who were moved by her artwork during a home visit.
The exhibition allowed Wong to transition from her identity as a patient to that of an artist, showcasing her paintings to family, friends, and medical staff. Hospital management attended the event to commend the medical team for practicing person-centered care, emphasizing that palliative care involves mutual support and companionship between patients and caregivers.
Staff members noted that the experience enriched the medical team as much as it supported the patient, highlighting the importance of maintaining dignity and personal achievement during the final stages of life.
