Hospital Clínico de València adopts robotic assistant for rehabilitation

The Hospital Clínico Universitario de València has integrated a robotic assistant to advance personalized rehabilitation for patients with upper limb mobility difficulties. The Armeo SpringPro system facilitates tailored therapies to recover functions in the shoulder, arm, and hand for both adults and pediatric patients.

Funded by European funds, the Conselleria de Sanidad acquired three units for 264,000 euros, distributing them among the Hospital Clínico Universitario de València, the Hospital General Universitario de Castellón, and the Hospital General Universitario Doctor Balmis de Alicante. The technology is indicated for patients with functional limitations resulting from conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), muscular dystrophies, or stroke sequelae.

The system supports the weight of the arm to facilitate movement and allows specialists to program exercises targeting grip, coordination, and hand movement. It also records objective data to track patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
