Hospital CT Scanners Restored in Argentina and Awaiting Parts in Chile

The District Hospital Las Lomitas in Formosa Province, Argentina, has fully restored its high‑end computed tomography (CT) scanner after a brief technical failure. Technicians from various regions repaired the machine on site, allowing more than 50 scans—including contrast and pediatric studies—to be performed since the end of May. Hospital director Javier Trachta emphasized that patient services continued throughout the outage, with urgent cases referred to nearby facilities.

Meanwhile, Hospital de Ovalle in Chile is awaiting the arrival of a new X‑ray tube to replace a worn component of its CT scanner. The hospital’s interim director Ricardo Salazar said the part must be imported, with customs processing underway and an expected delivery and installation within 20 business days. Critical oncology, emergency and inpatient examinations are being coordinated with external providers to minimize impact on patient care.

Both hospitals are taking steps to ensure continuity of diagnostic imaging services while addressing equipment repairs.
