Hospital de Aveiro emergency services may undergo renovations

The emergency department at the Hospital de Aveiro may undergo renovations before the construction of a long-awaited new outpatient building begins. Aveiro Mayor Luís Souto Miranda stated that the requalification of the emergency service could address critical shortages and provide a new reality for the facility ahead of the larger project.

The expansion project, which includes a new outpatient block, was awarded in May for 1.255 million euros, though the decision faced legal challenges from competitors. Local officials have expressed concerns regarding the current state of the hospital, criticizing the reliance on temporary container structures and calling for increased investment from central authorities.
