Hospital de Clínicas reports low hypertension treatment rates
A study conducted by the Cardiology Service of the Hospital de Clínicas, which is affiliated with the University of Buenos Aires, has revealed significant gaps in hypertension management. The research found that 63.9% of the individuals evaluated suffered from hypertension, yet only 49% of those affected were receiving treatment. Furthermore, only 10% of the hypertensive group maintained blood pressure levels within recommended parameters.
Medical specialists highlighted that hypertension is often asymptomatic and serves as a primary cause of stroke and heart failure. In light of World Heart Day on September 29, health professionals emphasized the necessity of regular medical check-ups to detect risk factors early. The report also noted high levels of sedentary behavior among those surveyed.
