Hospital de Câncer de Pernambuco undergoes institutional reinvention

The Hospital de Câncer de Pernambuco (HCP), founded in 1945, is undergoing a period of administrative transformation and recovery. Under new management focused on technical efficiency and transparency, the institution has worked to restore public and institutional trust.

This governance shift has enabled unprecedented synergy between the hospital, various institutions, and government bodies. This cooperation has resulted in increased funding through federal and state parliamentary amendments, as well as corporate donations via a state fund. Notably, 80% of federal deputies support the institution, with one senator contributing over R$ 3.5 million to bolster infrastructure and technology.

The hospital currently manages a high volume of medical services, including 1 million laboratory exams, 9,000 surgeries, and 74,000 chemotherapy procedures annually. Beyond clinical care, the institution provides psychological support and social services to assist patients through their treatment journeys.
