Hospital de la Gente Celaya strengthens specialized medical services
Hospital de la Gente Celaya is enhancing specialized medical care through service optimization and coordinated efforts with specialists. The facility aims to reduce surgical backlogs and accelerate patient care.
Omar Rojas Tapia, acting director of the Celaya General Hospital, reported that the unit employs approximately 900 medical, paramedical, and nursing staff. The hospital maintains 30 beds for internal medicine, 30 for surgery, and 25 for traumatology.
A key component of the strategy involves strengthening pediatric surgery by coordinating with six local community hospitals. This collaboration, where the General Hospital provides specialists and community units provide space and surgical time, has reduced the pediatric surgery backlog from approximately 120 patients to nearly 80. Additional surgical sessions are scheduled throughout the remainder of the year.
