Hospital de Salamanca manager dismissed over waiting list issues
Health authorities in Spain have dismissed Carmen Rodríguez, the manager of the Hospital de Salamanca, citing issues with surgical waiting lists. This marks the fourth change in management since 2017, highlighting a recurring difficulty in finding suitable leadership for the position.
While official data from Sacyl indicates that the structural waiting list has decreased from 6,500 to 5,200 people and the average wait time has dropped from 179 to 94 days, reports suggest a discrepancy. Critics point to a ‘real list’ of approximately 7,000 pending surgeries that includes non-programmed procedures not captured in official communications.
