Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça suspends emergency visits

Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça has temporarily suspended visits to patients in its emergency department due to high patient volume. SESARAM, the hospital's management entity, stated that the decision was made by clinical and nursing leadership to manage patient flow, ensure clinical activity, and maintain safety for both patients and healthcare professionals.

Currently, 51 patients are awaiting inpatient beds in their respective specialties, in addition to new arrivals entering the emergency service. While the suspension generally affects emergency department patients, SESARAM noted that cases of extreme vulnerability will be evaluated individually to ensure necessary care.

Standard visiting hours, typically between 12:30–13:00 and 19:30–20:00, will resume once conditions allow. The Family Support Office remains the primary contact for information regarding the clinical status of patients.
