Hospital Escuela reports theft of new medical equipment

Authorities at the Hospital Escuela in Honduras have reported the disappearance of a new digital electroencephalograph. The medical device, used to monitor electrical brain activity in patients, was located on the fifth floor of the Maternal and Child Block in the area designated for newborns.

Executive Director Darío Zúñiga confirmed that the equipment was new and had not yet been put into clinical use. Hospital administration is currently conducting an inventory review alongside the Ministry of Health and National Assets offices to determine if other assets are missing.

The hospital plans to file a formal complaint with the Public Ministry to investigate the theft and identify those responsible. Officials noted that the facility faces significant security challenges due to the high volume of people, with approximately 10,000 patients and visitors and 3,800 workers circulating through the complex daily.
