Hospital Estadual Mário Covas undergoes emergency management changes

Mayors from Santo André, São Bernardo, and São Caetano have implemented an emergency intervention at the Hospital Estadual Mário Covas following a Civil Police investigation into the diversion of medications. The intervention aims to address critical operational issues, including shortages of supplies, delays in surgeries, and difficulties in retrieving high-cost medications.

As part of the restructuring, the previous director, Murilo William Dib, has been replaced by José Antonio Acemel Romero. Ricardo Carajeleascow has also been appointed to the technical directorship. To ensure oversight, a commission of doctors and managers from the FMABC and the Centro Universitário FMABC will monitor the hospital's recovery and management processes.
