Hospital Garrahan workers protest for Pediatric Health Emergency Law
Healthcare professionals and technicians organized a symbolic demonstration at Hospital Garrahan in Argentina to demand the extension and effective implementation of the Pediatric Health Emergency Law. The law, which is set to expire on October 21, aims to ensure salary updates, tax exemptions for critical area personnel, and the restoration of the residency regime for young professionals.
Labor leaders, including Norma Lezana of the Asociación de Profesionales y Técnicos (APyT), noted that while the law was previously approved by a large majority in Congress, the Executive Branch has failed to apply it. Protesters are calling on Parliament to extend the legislation and on the courts to compel the Executive to implement the law without delay to ensure the continued provision of medicines and prosthetics for patients.
