Hospital Geral de Palmas faces scrutiny over safety licenses

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Tocantins (MPTO) is overseeing measures to regularize and improve the infrastructure of the Hospital Geral de Palmas (HGP). During recent hearings, the State Health Secretariat (SES) addressed concerns regarding the facility's definitive sanitary licensing and its fire safety operating license.

The lack of these licenses was brought to the attention of the MPTO by the Regional Medical Council of Tocantins (CRM-TO). While the HGP has had an approved fire prevention and combat project since 2017, physical expansions and structural changes to the hospital have necessitated a new project to comply with current military fire department standards. A new version of this project was submitted to the Prevenir system in July.

Despite the ongoing regularization process, the SES reported that the hospital is equipped with necessary safety tools, including hydrants, extinguishers, and signage. The hearings also covered the structuring of the Burn Unit to ensure adequate health assistance and structural safety.
