Hospital Horacio Oduber warns of rising surgical waiting lists in Aruba

The Hospital Horacio Oduber (HOH) has warned that surgical waiting lists for procedures such as knee, hip, and hernia surgeries could increase if a financial agreement is not reached within the next two weeks.

The institution is seeking a resolution with the UOAZV board and the Ministry of Health. Negotiations have been ongoing since March 2026, but a definitive agreement regarding the hospital's financial situation has yet to be reached. HOH noted that the lack of a solution is impacting the quality of medical care in Aruba.

Additional concerns include the need to relocate the dialysis clinic and the lack of coverage from UOAZV for the new hyperbaric chamber (HBOT) service. Despite providing requested documentation and an external investigation report, the hospital reports that no solution has been implemented.
