Hospital Isidro Ayora acquires new surgical equipment in Loja

The Hospital General Isidro Ayora in Loja has acquired a new electric dermatome to improve surgical care for burn patients. The investment in the new technology totaled USD 18,500.

Previously, skin graft procedures were performed manually. The new equipment allows medical staff to obtain thin, uniform layers of skin, providing greater precision during reconstructive surgeries. Specialists noted that the device should facilitate reconstructive work, improve patient recovery, and reduce hospital stays. The equipment was utilized this week during procedures for two minors with deep burns.
