The Hospital Materno Infantil at Hospital Escuela has reported 478 adolescent births so far in 2026. These cases are part of a total of 2,863 births recorded at the facility during the same period.

Of the adolescent births, 33 involved girls aged 14, while 445 were between the ages of 15 and 19. Health authorities noted that these figures highlight the need for strengthened prevention and sexual education to mitigate the social, educational, and economic challenges faced by young mothers.

To address this, the hospital operates a specialized Adolescent Mother Clinic. The clinic provides psychological and emotional support, seeing between 8 and 12 adolescent patients daily and exceeding 300 consultations per month. The facility aims to provide comprehensive, non-judgmental care to vulnerable youth and their children.
