Hospital Municipal de Cuiabá performs multi-organ donation

The Municipal Hospital of Cuiabá (HMC) performed a multi-organ and tissue procurement from a 51-year-old patient following a traumatic brain injury. The procedure involved more than 50 professionals, including specialists traveling from Campo Grande to assist.

The donation includes a liver destined for Mato Grosso do Sul, a right kidney for Rio Grande do Sul, and a left kidney for Pernambuco. Corneas were also harvested for local use. This single donation has the potential to save four lives and assist multiple patients on transplant waiting lists.

Municipal Health Secretary Deisi Bocalon highlighted the generosity of the family and used the occasion to promote organ donation awareness during ‘Setembro Verde’ (Green September).
