Hospital Municipal Santa Isabel expands night‑shift nutrition program

The Hospital Municipal Santa Isabel (HMSI) has widened its Projeto Cuidar Integral to include nutritional counseling for employees who work the night shift. The expansion aims to improve health habits, reduce chronic‑disease risk and boost overall well‑being among staff, which the hospital says will also enhance patient care. Nutritionist Maja Lima said the initiative has already produced “expressive adherence” and noticeable health improvements, adding that “when we care for those who care, we strengthen the assistance we provide to our patients.”

One participant, Patrícia Moreira, 46, reported losing 14 kilograms after joining the program, noting increased energy, better sleep and a sustained commitment to healthier eating. The project, launched in 2025 after a survey of roughly 400 employees revealed high levels of overweight, chronic illness, stress and poor habits, originally offered only to priority cases. Its success has driven the decision to extend services to night‑shift workers, further integrating nutrition with existing psychological and psychiatric support for staff.
