Hospital San Juan de Dios del Aljarafe performs bilateral hip arthroplasties

Hospital San Juan de Dios del Aljarafe, part of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), has successfully performed ten bilateral hip arthroplasties. This surgical technique allows for the implantation of prostheses in both hip joints during a single operation, rather than requiring two separate procedures.

This approach aims to reduce patient waiting times and accelerate the recovery of mobility. By performing a single intervention, the hospital optimizes the recovery process, shortens hospital stays, and minimizes complications related to prolonged hospitalization. The patients treated were relatively young, aged between 25 and 60, and in good general health, which facilitated the complex procedure. All ten patients reported positive outcomes and a rapid return to mobility.
