Hospital San Juan de Dios introduces robotic surgery in Sevilla

Hospital San Juan de Dios in Sevilla has implemented the Mako SmartRobotics™ system, marking the first use of this robotic surgery technology for knee and hip prosthesis in Andalusia. The system, developed by Stryker, allows for highly personalized surgical planning.

Unlike standard surgical navigation, this technology utilizes 3D planning based on CT scans to reconstruct a patient's specific anatomy before the procedure. This enables surgeons to define a precise strategy for prosthesis placement. During surgery, a robotic arm assists the specialist by executing the pre-defined plan and providing real-time control and safety limits to ensure instruments remain within designated zones.
