Hospital San Martín laboratory area closed after ceiling collapse

Masonry fell from the ceiling in the laboratory sector of the Hospital San Martín in La Plata on Monday morning. The incident forced the immediate closure of the clinical studies area.

While no injuries were reported, healthcare workers expressed concern that the collapse could have resulted in a tragedy had patients or staff been underneath the structure. Employees noted that the building's deterioration is not a new issue, citing long-standing water leaks and requests for repairs that have reportedly been made for over three years. The event has renewed calls for improved maintenance in public hospitals within the Buenos Aires province.
