Hospital Santo Tomás patient's grandmother clarifies emergency room incident
Miriam Esquivel, the grandmother of a 17-year-old patient, has clarified the circumstances surrounding a video circulating on social media regarding an incident at the Hospital Santo Tomás emergency waiting room in Panama.
Esquivel explained that the teenager visited the hospital due to abdominal pain and fainted while in the waiting area. She stated that security personnel acted immediately to prevent injury, and the patient was subsequently moved to a medical area. The patient underwent several evaluations, including an electrocardiogram, a chest X-ray, and the placement of an intravenous line.
Esquivel noted that the viral video lacked context and did not accurately reflect the medical attention or the hospital staff's response. She confirmed that the teenager is currently stable and recovering at home, expressing gratitude for the care provided by the medical team.
