Hospital Tornú modernization plan advances in Buenos Aires
The Ministry of Health of the City of Buenos Aires is advancing a comprehensive modernization plan for the Hospital General de Agudos Dr. Enrique Tornú. The project aims to benefit more than 100,000 residents in the areas of Parque Chas, Villa Ortúzar, and La Paternal.
The modernization includes structural improvements and new equipment. Current works focus on the emergency department, which will feature new consultation rooms, an infusion room, and a plaster room. The critical care sector will be expanded to include a high-tech shock room, a dedicated operating room, additional observation beds, and specific isolation areas.
Additionally, the central laboratory is being renovated to include an expanded waiting area, more individual extraction booths, and a redistributed workflow to accelerate sample processing. The plan also incorporates a new outpatient Mental Health space with community-oriented consultation rooms. Health Minister Fernán Quirós stated that these interventions aim to ensure precise and timely diagnoses as a foundation for effective treatment.
