Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca implements new polytrauma care protocol
The Hospital Clínico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca has implemented a new comprehensive care protocol for severe polytrauma patients. Developed by a team of approximately 30 professionals across 15 different specialties, the protocol aims to improve coordination and response times for clinically complex cases.
The new system involves a review of existing clinical procedures and the integration of new services to ensure a more agile and secure response. According to Jorge Guillermo Alonso, Director General of Hospital Care, the protocol has successfully reduced response times and internal transfers for critical patients.
Activation often begins before the patient reaches the hospital through advance notice provided by the 061 Emergency and Urgency Service. Once notified, specific roles are distributed among various specialties, and a designated leader is appointed to coordinate the patient's care throughout all phases of treatment.
