Hospital Virgen del Consuelo interrupts neurorehabilitation for child with rare disease

The family of Ádam, an 8-year-old boy suffering from a rare condition known as 14q duplication syndrome, has reported an abrupt interruption of his essential neurorehabilitation sessions. The condition causes low muscle tone (hypotonia), preventing the child from walking or speaking.

Ádam has been receiving daily treatment at the Hospital Virgen del Consuelo since he was one year old. However, his mother reports that the hospital stopped the sessions without official notification or referral to an alternative facility. The family expressed significant concern that the lack of continuous therapy will cause the child to lose the developmental progress he has made.

The family previously faced substantial financial hardship, incurring 30,000 euros in debt for private therapies and medical equipment before securing public treatment.
