Hospitality developments announced for Sydney and Brisbane

Several major hospitality updates have been announced across Australia. In Sydney, the heritage-listed Harbour Rocks Hotel in The Rocks has reopened following a revamp and a management change from Accor to EVT, now operating under the Ode Hotels brand. The 59-room property retains its original 1887 brick and stonework while introducing updated furnishings and lighting.

Additionally, the iconic Opera Bar Sydney is scheduled to reopen on November 6, 2026, following an extensive redesign by Applejack Hospitality. The transformation, executed by design studio Luchetti Krelle, introduces a deep green color palette, new furniture, and a fully electric kitchen to the waterfront venue.

In Brisbane, Accor is set to open the Novotel Brisbane City Centre on November 1. Taking over the former Capri by Fraser, the 239-room hotel will undergo refurbishments to its reception, restaurant, and bar areas to support growing tourism and event infrastructure in the region.
