Hospitality disputes rise over service fees and customer treatment in Croatia and Austria

Recent incidents in the European hospitality sector have sparked debate regarding service standards and additional fees. On the island of Krk, Croatia, four Hungarian tourists were reportedly ejected from a fully occupied restaurant after ordering only pancakes totaling 28 euros during peak hours. While some defend the restaurant's economic logic, the Croatian Tourist Association in Hungary noted that there is no official rule regarding mandatory minimum consumption.

In the Austrian border region of Carinthia, a restaurant has drawn criticism for charging 1.90 euros for slicing a pizza and an additional fee for providing an extra plate for sharing. Although the establishment states these charges are clearly listed in the menu to cover labor and service costs, the practice has contributed to growing customer dissatisfaction regarding rising service fees in the industry.
