Hospitality sector adapts to changing guest trends and booking behaviors

The accommodation sector is experiencing shifts in consumer behavior, characterized by an increase in last-minute bookings, shorter stays, and higher price sensitivity among guests. Lucia Kordiaková, Director of Accommodation at APLEND, notes that hoteliers must now offer greater flexibility and focus on the entire guest experience rather than just providing a clean room.

To meet diverse expectations, providers are integrating specialized services such as in-room massages, picnic baskets, and romantic packages to enhance value. Additionally, guests are increasingly attentive to comfort and sustainability.

Regarding hotel etiquette, travel expert Melanie Fish from Hotels.com clarifies what guests may typically take from their rooms. Items intended for individual replacement, such as disposable toiletries, tea bags, coffee, and slippers, are generally acceptable to take. However, guests are cautioned against taking more expensive items like bathrobes, which can result in unexpected charges during checkout.
