Hossein Pedaran executed in Iran for spying for Mossad

The Iranian judiciary has announced the execution of Hossein Pedaran, who was convicted of espionage and providing sensitive intelligence to the Israeli Mossad. Pedaran reportedly provided information regarding missile sites and military installations in Isfahan province.

According to judicial reports, Pedaran initially attempted to contact the CIA for financial gain but received no response. He subsequently established contact with Mossad, where an officer identified as ‘Ben’ contacted him via WhatsApp using a Dutch phone number. Pedaran used encrypted text files sent through email to transmit classified data.

The execution follows a period of increased arrests and capital punishment in Iran linked to regional conflicts and domestic unrest. Human rights organizations note that Iran maintains the second-highest number of executions globally, following China.
