Hoster Brewing to close Columbus taproom on October 31

Hoster Brewing Company has announced it will close its taproom located on North James Road in Columbus after October 31. The decision is attributed to rising costs for ingredients, materials, and energy, alongside shifting consumer drinking habits and a rent increase associated with a multi-year lease renewal.

As a legacy brand dating back to 1836, the company is currently seeking another brewery to potentially take over the Hoster name and its beer lineup. While the taproom will cease operations at the end of October, keg sales to local bars and restaurants are expected to continue through the end of the year or until current stock is depleted.

Other notable changes in the Columbus culinary landscape include the upcoming closure of Outerbelt Brewing in Carroll on October 5 and Mozart’s Cafe in Clintonville on December 24. Conversely, new establishments such as Fat Arnie’s Provecho, Black Pony Pizza, and Sunday Gravy are scheduled to open in the region.
