Zdeněk Pohlreich awards star to inn amid staff authenticity controversy

In the new series of the culinary reality show ‘Ano, šéfe!’, chef Zdeněk Pohlreich visited Hostinec U Zlatého buřtu in Nový Bor-Pihel. Despite facing economic challenges and operational issues, the establishment ultimately earned one star from Pohlreich, who praised the culinary talent of staff member Erik.

However, controversy emerged following the broadcast. Owner Zuzana Divišová admitted that the individuals appearing as kitchen staff during filming were not actual employees, but friends brought in to assist because the real staff did not want to participate. Pohlreich expressed shock upon learning of the situation, stating he had no idea the personnel shown were not the restaurant’s regular team. The revelation raises questions regarding the authenticity of the televised performance versus the daily operations of the inn.
