Marvel unveils Avengers: Doomsday details, cast and merchandise at San Diego Comic‑Con FAST-MOVING
Marvel Studios used its San Diego Comic‑Con 2026 panel to reveal extensive details about the upcoming MCU crossover film Avengers: Doomsday. An extended trailer showcased a multiversal showdown featuring Doctor Victor von Doom (portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.), the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X‑Men and Wakandan heroes. The film is slated for theatrical release on 18 December 2026.
The announcement also confirmed a Nova feature film rather than a Disney+ series, and introduced Ryan Gosling as the lead in a new Ghost Rider movie directed by Shawn Levy, slated for 2028. Kevin Feige addressed fan concerns about Doctor Doom’s lack of build‑up, drawing parallels to Thanos’ introduction.
In addition to on‑screen news, Marvel and its partners unveiled a broad line of collectibles: Hasbro’s Marvel Legends 6‑inch figures, Hot Toys and Sideshow high‑end statues, and a new Marvel Legends series covering characters such as Captain America (Sam Wilson), Thor, Shang‑Chi, Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. Original X‑Men actors Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden and others were seen together at the event, marking a major franchise reunion.
