Hot water supply halted for hundreds of Bucharest blocks during network upgrades
The Bucharest municipal water utility will suspend hot water to 845 apartment blocks for up to six days as part of a 1.3 billion‑lei thermal network modernization financed by EU and government funds. Work will begin on 13 July, affecting areas in Sectors 1 and 3 and covering major streets such as Șoseaua Panduri, Calea Floreasca and Bulevardul Mihai Bravu. The upgrades include replacing primary pipes up to 1 000 mm in diameter and are scheduled for completion by December 2027 to retain non‑refundable financing.
Residents in the designated zones will experience temporary loss of hot water at 55 to 92 points of service, depending on the specific district, with phased restoration as each segment is completed.
