Hotel Fires Sweep Puerto Plata Resorts in Dominican Republic

A fire broke out on Friday night at the Hotel Playa Bachata in Maimón, Puerto Plata, prompting a rapid response from the local fire department. Authorities reported no injuries, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Video footage showed columns of smoke, and officials said they will assess material damage and whether any evacuation was needed.

Separately, a fire ignited in the lobby of the closed former Hotel Mambo, also in Puerto Plata. The blaze was quickly contained by fire crews, limiting damage to the lobby area. No personal injuries were reported, and operations at the nearby Senator Puerto Plata Spa Resort and Playa Bachata continued as normal. Both hotels thanked emergency responders for their swift action.
