Hotel Griso Celebrates 60 Years Amid Stagnant Lecco Tourism
Hotel Griso Collection in Malgrate, on the shore of Lake Como, marked its 60th anniversary with a photographic exhibition and a press conference. The event brought together guests, employees and suppliers, and highlighted the hotel's evolution from a restaurant‑with‑rooms to a 56‑room lake‑view hotel.
Partner Ercole Crippa of Parco Malgrate Srl and general manager Martina Longhi outlined the renovation programme, now 70 % complete, which adds private saunas to each room, a new wellness area and a potential dock to improve lake access. Crippa noted that tourism in Lecco has plateaued, stating that “what four tourists spend in Lecco, a tourist spends in Como,” underscoring competition with the neighboring Como shore.
The hotel is positioning itself for future growth by seeking international chains and private investors, aiming to boost the region’s tourism through innovative services and better promotion of the local territory.
