Hotel Manor wall collapse leads to mass evacuation in Olsztyn
A wall collapsed at the Hotel Manor in Olsztyn, Poland, on Saturday, August 8, leading to the evacuation of 235 people. The evacuees included 90 individual guests and 145 participants and supervisors from two summer camps.
Preliminary information suggests the collapse occurred during construction work near the building. Specifically, a section of an external wall near where a pool was intended to be built was reportedly undermined without adequate security.
Emergency services, including the fire department and police, responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. Following the incident, the building supervision inspectorate prohibited the use of the entire facility until the damage is repaired and safety is verified.
