Hotel Palacio de Albacete operator enters insolvency proceedings

The company operating the Hotel Palacio in Albacete has entered insolvency proceedings, confirming a deep financial crisis. This development follows a ten-day strike organized by the CCOO union in August due to unpaid wages. Although the outstanding salaries were eventually paid, the filing for insolvency indicates that the company's issues extend beyond temporary cash flow problems to fundamental viability.

The hotel is part of a municipal complex that includes the city's congress center. The Albacete City Council previously approved a new process in February to award the joint management of the hotel and the convention center to a new operator. It is expected that a new company will take over management and subrogate the current workforce. The judiciary must now appoint an administrator to oversee the company's assets while the municipal adjudication process continues, which could conclude late this year or early next year.
