Hotel Tatry: Former communist retreat in Tatra National Park

Hotel Tatry, located in the Tatra National Park at an altitude of approximately 1060–1095 meters, remains a site of historical intrigue. Designed by Stanisław Miroszewski in 1969 and constructed in the early 1970s, the facility was originally established as the House of Holiday for the Council of Ministers, intended exclusively for members of the Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR).

During the communist era, the hotel was a symbol of luxury and exclusivity, protected by barbed wire and military guards. It featured 50 rooms with private bathrooms and a conference hall for party delegates. The building was designed with high levels of autonomy, including triple power supply and large fuel reserves, leading to local speculation that it could serve as a bunker or atomic shelter.

In recent years, the hotel's unique architecture and secluded forest setting have made it a popular filming location, including for the Max series ‘Przesmyk’.
