HotelStars Union Sets Detailed Criteria for 5‑Star Hotels in Slovakia

The HotelStars Union, a Europe‑wide hotel rating organization, introduced a transparent set of standards that Slovak hotels must meet to earn star classifications. Membership for Slovakia began in April, making it the 22nd national member. The criteria increase with each star level: a 1‑star hotel must provide daily housekeeping, a seat, storage space, and basic bathroom amenities. A 2‑star property adds a bedside lamp; a 3‑star hotel requires multilingual reception staff and room mirrors and hair‑dryers. A 4‑star establishment must offer a 14‑hour reception, lobby, bar, multiple pillow options, a chair in the room, and international TV channels. To achieve the top 5‑star rating, hotels need 24‑hour reception on request, in‑room breakfast service, daily restaurant access, beds with a minimum width of 90 cm (single) or 180 cm (double), fully blackout curtains, a safe, and a bathrobe with slippers.
