On 28 July 2026, prominent Indonesian lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea met with Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) chair Akhmad Munir in Jakarta's Senayan area. The meeting was mediated by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
Hotman offered a public apology for comments that were perceived as insulting to journalists. In response, PWI announced it would withdraw the police report it had filed and emphasized the importance of national unity and mutual respect between the legal and media professions.
The reconciliation, framed as a step toward “Persatuan Indonesia,” was presented as a model for resolving professional disputes through dialogue rather than litigation.
