House Democrats flag conflict concerns in Trump minerals deals
More than 50 House Democrats have expressed concerns regarding the Trump administration’s critical minerals agreements. They also cited risks regarding transparency, labor and human rights, environmental protections, and the use of public funds.
Additionally, the group warned that these agreements could expose American taxpayers to significant financial losses. They noted that the deals could involve billions of dollars in direct loans and loan guarantees from the Development Finance Corporation and the Export-Import Bank, arguing that while companies retain profits if projects succeed, taxpayers may absorb the losses if they fail.
