House House withholds Big Walk from Xbox due to BDS boycott

Melbourne-based developer House House has announced that its cooperative adventure game, Big Walk, will not be released on Xbox. The studio cited its decision as an adherence to the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, which has designated Microsoft and its gaming division as priority boycott targets due to the company’s contracts with the Israeli government and military.

The developers acknowledged that this decision conflicts with the game’s core design, which was intended for groups of friends to play together via crossplay. They expressed regret and understanding regarding the disappointment of Xbox users, stating they would only release the title on the platform once Microsoft or Xbox are no longer targets of the BDS boycott.

Big Walk is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The studio emphasized that the choice was made out of a belief that coordinated collective action can drive meaningful global change.
